Testing+Evaluation Projects and Assignments
PS 69 Jackson Heights School
Queens, NY
For this 1922 public school and its 1992 addition, SUPERSTRUCTURES used a full arsenal of standardized and hybrid tests to find the cause of leaks and verify as-built conditions. Different roofs and ceilings led to the use of exterior and interior infrared thermography, electrical impedance testing, leakage mapping, and water deluge testing, as appropriate. The construction of 14’ tall parapet walls was mapped using both ground penetrating radar and a covermeter to reveal various combinations of missing rebar, grout, and truss mesh.
