SUPERSTRUCTURES was asked by the New York City School Construction Authority to verify, non-destructively, the condition of double-T slabs supporting a playground above the Metro-North Railroad Hudson Line. Using surface/ground penetrating radar, no indications of deteriorated or delaminated concrete were observed in the fins or slabs, except for some limited regions at the base of the fins. The fins contained wire mesh, rebar, and two sets of tensioned cables. The slabs contained wire mesh and stirrups. Observations were conducted from a boom truck on the tracks, in cooperation with the railroad.
