Built between 1912-1924, this four-story school building designed by E. and W.S. Maxwell with buff brick, stone and concrete masonry and glazed terra-cotta columns, ornamentation, and cornices. SUPERSTRUCTURES was retained to perform conservation services on the spalling and cracking terra cotta and its glaze, as well as the efflorescence and mortars associated with the building masonry. SUPERSTRUCTURES tested the physical properties of the terra-cotta bisque and glaze finish and associated mortars according to ASTM standards. Recommendations for stabilization and treatment repairs were based on the findings and analysis. Client: Fournier Gersovitz Moss Architects.
